on

Join us for a three-day workshop focused on reading primary source manuscripts in Sanskrit. Led by renowned Indologist Professor Kenneth G. Zysk, this workshop will provide an overview of different genres of premodern Indian knowledge systems.

Each day, scholars will present textual material (with Latin transcriptions and accompanying English translations) from their own field of expertise and guide participants in reading the original Sanskrit together. Whether you're a seasoned Sanskrit scholar or just starting your journey, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to engage with ancient texts and deepen your understanding of Indian intellectual history. Even if you have no prior experience with Sanskrit, you're encouraged to attend and participate.

All are welcome, particularly students of philology and ancient studies.

Organised and hosted by Dr. Jacob Schmidt-Madsen and Prof. Dr. Anuj Misra.

This event takes place at the MPIWG. As places may be limited, we kindly ask that you email astra@mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de (by Thursday, October 3, 2024) to register your attendance.
