Welcome to the tutoring-programme at the Institute for Near Eastern Archaeology

What is mentoring?

Mentoring has been introduced as part of the SUPPORT project to improve the quality of study and teaching. First-year students are mentored by more experienced students. Mentors receive comprehensive training from the Careers Service before taking up their role to ensure a successful start to their studies.

Mentors offer

  • Educational support for students in the early stages of their studies
  • A tour of the campus
  • Help with course selection and orientation to university life
  • Orientation to the subject matter
  • Communicate the requirements and prospects of the subject
  • As contact persons, the mentors refer students to the relevant offices (e.g. Study and Examination Office, BA/MA representative, BaFöG representative, mental well-being and support points).
  • Additional offers in consultation with the students of the subject.

Student Council Initiative for Near Eastern Archaeology

We are an open association of motivated students of the Institute of Near Eastern Archaeology. We are primarily concerned with networking between students of our subject, other student representatives (FSI) and international networking. We are also happy to help you with any problems you may have during your studies and try to help shape the university politically by discussing and representing student interests.

As an independent organisation, we plan various activities such as Christmas and summer parties, lecture series and discussion events. We also run an email list (fsi-vaa-ao@lists.fu-berlin.de) where we provide information about lecture invitations, job vacancies and student activities.

We are a creative space for ideas and projects and would love to have YOU join us!

If you would like to get involved, have a look around or simply be added to the mailing list, please send us a short email to: fsi-vaa-ao@lists.fu-berlin.de
