New Master Degree Program "Antike Welten - Interdisziplinäre Altertumswissenschaften"

Ab Wintersemester 2026/27 kann der neue Masterstudiengang "Antike Welten - Interdisziplinäre Altertumswissenschaften" studiert werden. Wir freuen uns künftig im Verbund zu lehren - neben der Vorderasiatischen Archäologie sind folgende Institute beteiligt: Ägyptologie, Altorientalistik, Computational Ancient Studies, Klassische Archäologie, Prähistorische Archäologie und Wissensgeschichte des Altertums.

Start of the winter semester 2025!

A warm welcome to all new students of Near Eastern Archaeology! We are looking forward to a semester with exciting seminars on magic, medicine and monsters , objects as part of the (institute's) history , facts & fiction about the Luwians and insights into the Neo-Assyrian Empire , as well as introductions to Near Eastern archaeology and archaeological techniques . We want to look at intoxication and drugs and discuss Sense and Sensibility: The Archaeology of Sensory Experience and Perception with students from Copenhagen in cooperation with the prehistoric archaeology department. Subject introduction We invite all students to the first semester orientation on 7 October at 14:00 and look forward to meeting you. Three PhD scholarships in archaeology

The Graduate School of Research EUR ArChal offers three PhD scholarships, of three years duration, starting from the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year. The scholarship holders will enroll for their PhD at the archaeology doctoral school of the University of Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Joint supervision with another ArChal partner (see below) is highly recommended and will be set up during the first year of the PhD.
