News from Apr 25, 2025
Research on the ancient world in Berlin is held in high regard worldwide. The Berliner Antike-Kolleg - the association of all institutions working on antiquity in Berlin - is now expanding its cooperation: in addition to the existing partners, the FU and its ancient studies, the HU, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW), the German Archaeological Institute (DAI), the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK) are being joined by four more: Technische Universität Berlin, the University of Potsdam, Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM). This significantly expands the network of Berlin's antiquity studies, including expertise in the fields of historical building research and monument preservation, sociology, art, architecture, history of science and medicine, military history and conflict research, natural sciences, archaeometry and application-oriented research on cultural heritage preservation.
