Dear international students,

Many of you are new to Berlin and Freie Universität—or you are still struggling with the many challenges here. The department's International Office is offering a series of events called “Berlin Life Hacks”: every second Wednesday of the month, you have the opportunity to meet at Café Holzkopf (basement of the Holzlaube) for an hour with some snacks and drinks, ask me or the student mentor questions, and get talking to each other. One of you will moderate the meeting, which always has a specific theme.

Next Wednesday, November 12, at 2 p.m., Juri Ammari (ISME) will moderate on the topic of “Starting Life in a New City.”

I hope that many of you will be there and I am looking forward to the meeting. If you have any suggestions for topics for the next meetings—from everyday life in Berlin to challenges at university—please let me know. And it would be great if we could find some more moderators.
