Mit großer Freude teilt der Bereich Global History des Friedrich-Meinecke-Instituts (FMI) mit, dass Prof. Dr. Michael Goebel zum Präsidenten des Global Urban History Project (GUHP) gewählt wurde. Im Global Urban History Project (GUHP) erforschen zahlreiche Wissenschaftler:innen die vielseitigen Schnittstellen von Global- und Stadtgeschichte. Vom 10. bis zum 12. Juli 2025 veranstaltete das GUHP eine Konferenz mit dem Titel “Stretching the Limits of Global Urban History” in Berlin und wählte Prof. Michael Goebel zum Präsidenten. Michael Goebel ist Einstein Professor für Globalgeschichte an der Freien Universität Berlin, Co-Leiter des Frankreich-Zentrums und stellvertretender geschäftsführender Direktor des Friedrich-Meinecke-Instituts. Ferner ist Prof. Goebel Mitherausgeber des Global Urban History Blogs und der Reihe “Cambridge Elements in Global Urban History”.

Michael Goebel elected as president of Global Urban History Project (GUHP)

It is with great pleasure that the Global History department of the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institute (FMI) announces Prof. Dr. Michael Goebel’s election as president of the Global Urban History Project (GUHP). The Global Urban History Project (GUHP) unites numerous scholars interested in exploring the multifaceted crossroads of global and urban history. From the 10th to 12th July 2025, the GUHP hosted a conference titled “Stretching the Limits of Global History” in Berlin and elected Prof. Michael Goebel as its president. Michael Goebel is Einstein Professor of Global History at Freie Universität Berlin, co-director of the Frankreich-Zentrum and Deputy Director of the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institut (FMI). Furthermore, Prof. Goebel co-edits the Global Urban History Blog and the “Cambridge Elements in Global Urban History” series.
