4 PhD scholarships BerGSAS (Landscape Archaeology; Ancient Objects and Visual Studies)
The Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS) is offering four scholarships in archaeological doctoral programmes starting in the winter semester 2026/27 with funding from the DAAD.

Two scholarships are available in the Landscape Archaeology and Architecture doctoral programme and two in Ancient Objects and Visual Studies.
The call for applications is open to applicants who do not have German citizenship. The funding period is four years and begins on 1 October 2026. Graduates of relevant subjects are eligible to apply. Candidates must have an excellent master's degree (M.A., MSt, MSc) in one of the relevant subjects or be about to graduate. The application deadline is 15 October 2025 (duration of the scholarships: 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2030).
If you are interested in applying for a doctoral programme in Near Eastern Archaeology, please contact Prof. Dr. Bonatz and/or Prof. Dr. Roßberger. If the scholarship is accepted, you will be enrolled as a doctoral student either at Freie Universität Berlin or at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, depending on your doctoral subject and the primary supervisor of your dissertation project.
