Study programs of Arabic Studies
BA History and Culture of the Middle East, focus Arabic Studies
If you want to study Arabic Studies, you should have a general interest in literature, enjoy learning languages, and have the courage and curiosity to research questions independently and familiarize yourself with new subject areas. In the OSA you can find the most important information about the study of the History and Culture of the Middle East (including the specialization area Arabic Studies): Structure of the bachelor's program, contents, student reports, and much more.
MA Arabic Studies
Look behind the clichés of the Orient of deserts, camels, veils, oil, and the Thousand and One Nights, and not only learn more about the Quran as a literary text, but get excited about classical and modern Arabic literature.
MA Interdisciplinary Studies of the Middle East (ISME)
Arabic Studies joins with five other disciplines (Iranian Studies, Islamic Studies, Jewish Studies, Semitic Studies, and Turkic Studies) to form "Interdsiciplinary Studies of the Middle East," a two-year, full-time, English-language master's degree program.
Graduate Schools
The Graduate Schools of the Freie Universität Berlin offer MA graduates from the field of Arabic Studies the opportunity to pursue a doctorate under the supervision of, for example, Prof. Dr. Beatrice Gründler.
