PalREAD, the European Research Council (ERC) funded project, is excited to announce the release of our new podcast series: Country of Words. 

The Arabic-language podcast series consists of 10 episodes, each bringing an hour-long conversation with key figures in Palestinian literature.

Guests speak to us about their cultural and literary biography, influential books, Palestinian literary history, the state of the Palestinian literary scene, and their personal libraries. They also read from their own works or from key Palestinian literary texts.  

The podcast features conversations with: Liana Badr, Mahmoud Shukair, Asmaa Azaizeh, Faisal Darraj, Elias Khoury, Ghassan Zaqtan, Huzama Habayeb, Abed Abdi, Hadi Danyal, and Rajaa Ghanem.

Through these conversations, the podcast aims to highlight the importance of oral literary history, travelling with our guests across different periods and geographies, documenting unwritten dimensions of Palestinian literature, and uncovering its untold stories.
