TALK (hybrid): Rhyming Recipes: Poetic Transmissions of Practical Knowledge, by Leonie Böttiger
Presentation as part of the international conference “Poetry and Knowledge: The Production and Transmission of Knowledge in Arabic Verse (1100–1800)” at the Institut für Arabistik und Islamwissenschaft, University of Münster
On Friday, 21 November, there will also be a hybrid talk by Isabel Toral, “Edible Eloquence: Gastronomic Poetry and Culinary Knowledge in Ibn Sayyār al-Warrāq’s Kitāb al-Ṭabīkh (10th century CE)”. The event will be chaired by Asmaa Essakouti, followed by Leonie Böttiger’s presentation “Rhyming Recipes: Poetic Transmissions of Practical Knowledge,” with Maysoon Shibi taking part in the final panel with closing remarks.
Leonie Böttiger is a doctoral candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Beatrice Gründler and Prof. Dr. Cale Johnson at the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies (BGSMCS) and is also affiliated with the Max-Planck-Institut for the History of Science (MPIWG). Sie arbeitet im Bereich der arabischen Literatur und Wissensgeschichte.
