Hola, Salam y Shalom an alle,

Ich bin Alejandro Manjón Aspe (he/him) und ich studiere Islamwissenschaft im Master an der FU. Ich freue mich, euch zu meinem X-Tutorial einzuladen!

Dieses Semester werde ich dank der Förderung der Berlin University Alliance moderne Konzeptualisierungen von Al-Andalus unter dem Franco-Regime erforschen.

Das Projekt heißt Reimagining Al-Andalus: Otherness and Identity in Spain und beschäftigt sich mit dem Judentum und Islam unter der Franco Diktatur in Spanien. In der ersten Sitzung gebe ich eine Al-Andalus 101 und ein Franco 101 Präsentation, damit alle Teilnehmenden einen gemeinsamen Ausgangspunkt haben.

Das Projekt ist student-based - die Gruppe bestimmt also sowohl die Arbeitssprache (DE, En oder SP) als auch die thematischen Schwerpunkte.

Die Leitfrage ist: How have competing interpretations of Al-Andalus influenced constructions of Spanish national identity and the delineation of cultural Otherness?

Wir werden Themen wie den spanischen Kolonialismus in Marokko, Philo- und Antisemitismus im spanischen Franquismus sowie die Rolle des Christentums in der Diktatur behandeln.

Spanischkenntnisse sind sehr willkommen. Ansonsten sind Studierende ab dem 3. Semester willkommen, die sich für das Thema interessiert und Lust darauf haben, interdisziplinär zu arbeiten. Das X-Tutorial kann vom Prüfungsbüro angerechnet werden.

Das X-Tutorial beginnt am 21. Oktober vom 14.00 bis 16.00 Uhr im Raum

I am Alejandro Manjón Aspe (he/him) and I am currently doing my Masters in Islamic Studies at the Fu. I’m excited to invite you to my X-Tutorial!
This semester, thanks to the support of the Berlin University Alliance, I will explore modern conceptualizations of Al-Andalus under the Franco regime.

The project is titled Reimagining Al-Andalus: Otherness and Identity in Spain and examines representations of Judaism and Islam during Francoist Spain. In our first session, I’ll give an Al-Andalus 101 and Franco 101 presentation to make sure everyone has a shared foundation.

The project is student-based, meaning that the group will decide both the working language (German, English, or Spanish) and the specific topics of focus.

The guiding question is:How have competing interpretations of Al-Andalus influenced constructions of Spanish national identity and the delineation of cultural Otherness?

We will discuss topics such as Spanish colonialism in Morocco, philo- and antisemitism under Francoism, and the role of Christianity in the dictatorship.

Spanish language skills are very welcome, though not required. The tutorial is open to students from the 3rd semester onwards who are interested in the topic and enjoy interdisciplinary work. The X-Tutorial can be accredited by the examination office.
