kalimat | WRITING WORKSHOP
Continuing the momentum built during its well attended panel in the 2025 DOT in Erlangen, the kalimat project invites Berlin based colleagues to a small writing workshop to discuss their contributions.This workshop is a working session for in-progress and prospective contributions to kalimat . Participants are invited to give a 5–10-minute presentation in which they (1) map out the semantics/contexts/function of a term of interest AND/OR (2) showcase or discuss one of the main sources they are working on, ideally a passage of central relevance to their keyword.

kalimat | Reading & Conversation: Jokha Alharthi – “Herrinnen des Mondes”
On 22 October, a conversation and reading of Jokha Alharthi’s novel Herrinnen des Mondes takes place at Literaturhaus Berlin . Her Booker Prize–winning novel is presented in conversation with the translators Sandra Hetzl and Claudia Ott. Jokha Alharthi speaks in Arabic and German about the genesis of her work, while the German translation is read by Alina Vimbai Strähler. As part of her time in Berlin, on 23 October Jokha Alharthi also meets with the kalimat team to discuss her contribution and her role as a board member.
