Elena Devecchi ist Professorin für Geschichte des Alten Vorderen Orients am Institut für Geschichtswissenschaften der Universität Turin. Nach ihrer Promotion an der Universität Venedig arbeitete sie in Belgien (KU Leuven), Deutschland (LMU München und JMU Würzburg) und Österreich (Universität Innsbruck), wo sie Postdoc-Projekte durchführte und Kurse über Akkadisch und Hethitisch lehrte. Ihr wissenschaftliches Interesse gilt den internationalen Beziehungen während der Spätbronzezeit, insbesondere den historischen und diplomatischen Texten aus Anatolien und Syrien (siehe Trattari internazionali ittiti, Brescia 2015), sowie der sozioökonomischen Geschichte Babyloniens während der Kassitenzeit (siehe Mittlere babylonische Texte in den Sammlungen der Cornell University.II. Die früheren Könige (CUSAS 37, Philadelphia im Druck).

Ein zentraler Punkt ihrer Arbeit an der KFG werden ihre Studien über "Management of agricultural resources in Kassite Babylonia" sein. Aufgrund ihrer Expertise und Forschungsschwerpunkte, speziell ihre Arbeiten zu den internationalen Verträgen der Spätbronzezeit, als auch ihre aktuelle Arbeit an mittelbabylonischen Urkunden, die wichtige Einblicke in die Organisation des kassitischen Königtums und seinen ökonomischen Herrschafts-Strategien erlauben, wird Frau Dr. Devecchi die Forschung der KFG bereichern.
