News vom 25.10.2023

“Empowering African Girls? Capitalism, Poverty, and Silencing in the Writing of History” by Sarah Bellows-Blakely has been published in the September issue of the American Historical Review. The article examines the growth of girl-focused economic development programming from Nairobi. It argues that certain ideas and actors were silenced as capitalistic visions of girl-focused development became dominant within the United Nations in the 1980s and1990s.
