We are thrilled to have as our guest, Sven Beckert, who has just published Capitalism: A Global History. This exciting session will take place on Wednesday, November 5 from 6–8 pm at the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institute (Koserstraße 20, 14195 Berlin), in room A 127.

Sven Beckert is a professor of American history at Harvard University. He studied history, sociology, and political science at the University of Hamburg and Columbia University in New York. In 2011, he was a Guggenheim Fellow, and in 2022, he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His book Empire of Cotton (2014) was awarded the Bancroft Prize and the Philip Taft Prize and was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize. “Ein Meisterstück der neuen Globalgeschichte” [A masterpiece of new global history], was the verdict of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Link to his website
