Course registration/deregistration

Registration for modules usually takes place online via Campus Management during the registration period in the respective semester. When you book a module, you are automatically "reserved" for the module exam.

For courses with limited places (these are those in which a maximum number of participants is specified), you specify so-called preference requests via Campus Management when booking.

The allocation of places in courses with limited places takes place on the last Friday before the start of the lecture period at 12 noon.

If there are still places available after that, you can still register for them afterwards.

Please also note that some areas (e.g. ZE Sprachen/Languages) carry out their own allocation procedures for courses with limited places, which precede registration in the Campus Management system and are binding.

If you didn't get a place in the course you wanted after the allocation process, please check whether there are alternative courses in the module where there are still places available. Shortly after the allocation process and in the first week of lectures, availability changes hourly.

If this is not the case and the course in question is recommended for the respective semester according to the exemplary course plan, please contact the relevant institute or the study office so that they can find out how many places are required.

In certain cases, booking via CM is not possible. In these cases, please register via the study office within the registration period and use the form “Registration for Modules, Courses and, Examinations”.

Only those who are duly registered for a course may participate in it and earn credits.

Changes or de-registrations can only be made during the registration period.

Deregistration is possible without giving reasons up until the registration deadline (third Friday after the start of lectures).

Changes or de-registrations after the deadline are only possible in justified exceptional cases in writing using a form via the Office of Academic Affairs.

In all courses with limited places, a pre-allocation quota of 10% of places is reserved for a specific group of people.

Group of people according to Section 11 of the Statute for Study Affairs:

  • Disability or long-term or permanent health impairment within the meaning of Section 2 Paragraph 1 of the Social Security Code IX
  • Sole care of close relatives according to Section 7 Paragraph 3 of the Care Leave Act
  • Child in the household up to the age of 12
  • Pregnant women and women who have recently given birth

If you belong to the above-mentioned group of people, you can register for the relevant courses via the Office of Academic Affairs using a form no later than one day before the place is allocated, so that you can be registered for the desired courses in CM (with appropriate proof).

Note: the signature(s) of the lecturers do not have to be obtained and please send the collected documents as a scan by email to the Office of Academic Affairs. The registration forms can be found on the following website: https://www.geschkult.fu-berlin.de/en/studium/downloadbereich/index.html
