What are related modules („affin“)?
This is an area of your study program that only exists in mono Bachelor's degree programs. If you are studying a combined Bachelor's degree (e.g. History/Art History), this information is not relevant for you.
In the related area (“affin”), you must choose modules from other Bachelor's degree programs - usually to the extent of 30 credits. This allows you to pursue your interdisciplinary interests and broaden your academic spectrum.
You can choose modules from different subject areas or even take the entire credits in one subject to gain a deeper insight into a field, provided you are offered a place in the module(s).
Q&A
In general, you are free to choose modules from other BA degree programs according to your interests and with the consent of the lecturers (= “free module allocation”).
However, many departments have so-called contingent agreements due to limited capacities, where only a certain selection of modules is available in limited numbers (= “limited module allocation”).
The registration procedure depends on the type of allocation.
„free module allocation“ => registration form
„limited module allocation“ => application form
As a general rule, related modules are booked into CM by the Academic Office, so that the credit points are displayed directly in CM in the affine area if the module is fully completed.
Please note: Do not select individual courses. You will only receive credit points for complete modules.
