There are two departmental libraries: a joint library for the Institute of History and the Institute of Art History tut in our building at Koserstraße 20 and the departmental library for all other institutes in the departmental building ("Holzlaube") at Fabeckstraße. Both libraries are reference libraries, so there is no lending of books.
However, there is also an extensive central university library where you can borrow books for several weeks. For an overview of the FU University Library System, including the other departmental libraries, the central unversity library, and borrowing and access policies, click HERE and see the information sheet. The FU online catalogue collects books and articles from all university libraries as well as various online resources.
There are several other important public libraries in Berlin, including the Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the general and well-stocked Staatsbibliothek, and many special libraries. The "Kooperativer Bibliotheksverbund Berlin-Brandenburg" offers a library list and a search in all catalogs. For ancient studies (archaeology, ancient history, etc.) you can also use the library search Propylaeum for all Berlin libraries.
