Application
The application deadline is usually 31 January for the coming winter semester and/or summer semester and 15 May for the summer semester (remaining places). You can find more information about the application and other advantages and requirements on the central website of the Erasmus Office of the FU Berlin.
The following application documents are required:
- Online application form
- Letter of motivation (1 page)
- Curriculum vitae
- Language certificate (based on the language requirements of the partner university)
- Current overview of your credits from the Campus Management
- Current certificate of enrolment
Learning Agreement
After a successful application, students must complete a Learning Agreement. The Learning Agreement specifies the courses to be taken at the partner university. It is recommended to check early which courses are offered at the partner university and which FU modules can be credited with the ECTS credits earned during the Erasmus period. Students must take at least 15 ECTS credits per semester at the partner university. The regular number of credits per semester is 30 ECTS.
Students must complete their Learning Agreement online via the portal and send it to their Erasmus+ coordinator. More information and Learning Agreement forms can be found here.
Recognition of ECTS credits
At the end of the Erasmus period, students can apply for ECTS credits to be transferred to the FU. A form for credit transfer (Antrag auf Leistungsanrechnung) must be submitted. The completed form is sent to the Erasmus+ coordinators together with the Transcript of Records. The Transcript of Records is issued by the partner university at the end of the Erasmus period. After the Erasmus+ coordinators have signed the form, it is forwarded to the Examinations Office (Prüfungsbüro), which will make the booking in Campus Management.
Further exchange opportunities
In addition to the Erasmus programme, many other foundations offer the possibility of studying abroad. To apply to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), please refer to their website or enquire information at the relevant contact point at the FU Berlin.
The FU Berlin also offers the PROMOS programme. The programme offers students and doctoral candidates the opportunity to receive financial support if their stay abroad does not fit into any of the programmes offered by the DAAD or Erasmus.
The FU Berlin offers numerous opportunities to gain international experience. Students can use the FU Berlin database to search for various exchange opportunities. You can find the database here (in German).
