Dear students,

 

Are you looking for an opportunity to strengthen your German language skills—whether you are just starting out or aiming to reach a more advanced level? The Preparatory German Language Programme (Vorkurs Deutsch) offers an excellent chance to do exactly that.

 

Running 6 weeks from 2 March to 10 April 2026, these intensive courses are a well-established programme at Freie Universität Berlin, originally designed for Erasmus and Direct Exchange students. However, it is equally beneficial for students enrolled in English-language master’s programs, regardless of whether you are in your first, second, or any later semester. Participation is entirely voluntary and serves as an additional learning opportunity provided by the university.

 

Thanks to your status as FU Berlin master’s students, you are eligible for a reduced participation fee of 865 EUR.

                •             6 weeks, 120 contact hours, 6 ECTS credits

                •             German courses at five proficiency levels (A1–C1) – suitable for complete beginners and advanced learners

                •             Small class sizes and tailored teaching

How to join

 

If you are interested in the pre-semester intensive German language programme, please apply as soon as possible by following these steps:

1) Please find the application form online.

2) To register, it takes two steps. 1: Create account and register to participate. This will be your program profile from now on where you can always login to check your invoice etc. 2: Login into your profile. On your dashboard, please click on "register as participant". Afterwards, please select "registration - standard" and then follow the steps.

3) The receipt of your electronic application will be confirmed via email immediately. Please note that participation fees must be covered by the student, and payment is required directly after registration. Within one week, you will need to pay your invoice via bank transfer if you haven't chosen credit card payment. You can always find your invoice on your dashboard as well.

4) The application deadline is 19 January 2026 or upon reaching the maximum number of participants per course.
