[Exhibition] Art of Dignified Manner – Traditional Korean Attire Hanbok
Jointly presented by the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage and the Freie Universität Berlin, the exhibition Art of Dignified Manner brings the identity and beauty of Korean dress to the heart of Europe. It will take place from November 22, 2024, to January 17, 2025, at the Campus Library of Freie Universität Berlin.
The exhibition Art of Dignified Manner explores the epic of Korean clothing culture, showcasing the diverse forms, structures, and aesthetic values embedded in Hanbok, the traditional Korean attire. It highlights the sense of dignity, style, and refined courtesy that Hanbok represents.
All displayed garments—women’s, men’s, and children’s attire, as well as accessories and fabrics—have been meticulously researched, designed, and handsewn by students of the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage. These works are based on historical relics, including textile composition, color schemes, and traditional construction techniques. By presenting the historical evolution and artistic refinement of Hanbok, the exhibition offers insight into the unique Korean sense of beauty and moral culture. More than a display of heritage, it is an invitation to reflect on shared cultural values and to envision a joint cultural legacy for future generations in a global society.
