Hojin Song is a journalist working for the daily newspaper Hankyoreh. He has been covering politics, culture, sports for the last 17 years.
The aim of this lecture series is to analyze the development of media and its relation to the growth of democracy in modern Korea. Going through a rapid process of modernization, mechanization, and informatization, Korea has experienced a multitude of changes. Through discourses on media and democracy in modern Korea, we would like to raise questions concerning the role and influence of media on the democratization of Korea, and eventually to see how Korean society has changed.
