Hyun Gyung Kim served as a postdoctoral fellow with the Graduate School of East Asian Studies of Freie Universität Berlin from 2017 to 2019 before she joined the Korea-Europe Programme. Currently, her primary research interests lie with female sexuality and the mobilisation of the female body in the Cold War era in East Asia. She has published one monograph, three edited volumes, and several journal articles in the Korean language on issues in feminist cultural studies as well as on topics such as the Korean entertainment industry, the gender/sexuality politics of K-drama in the neoliberal era, and the dynamics of affect surrounding Korean idols. Her works in English are forthcoming in the edited volume titled Gender, Media, Affect, East Asian Journal of Popular Culture, and Feminist Media Studies.
