2012 International Conference

2012 International Conference within the Project of "Circulation of Knowledge and the Dynamics of Transformation".

IKS (Institute of Korean Studies) organized an international academic conference with the title of “Lost and Found in Policy-Translation” for two days between 30 and 31 March 2012 at the Ramada Plaza in Berlin. It is an official event held in the frame of the overseas leading university project of Korean Studies, “Circulation of Knowledge and Dynamics of Transformation”, which is being supported by the Academy of Korean Studies(AKS) and co-managed by IKS in Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) and KS (Korean Studies) in Ruhr Universität Bochum (RUB). The researchers joining this project and the external scholars invited not only from Korea and Germany but also from other European countries and the US gathered and exchanged their research results, carrying out useful discussions for the two days. They tried to share and elaborate the concept of policy-translation, which is recently being actively discussed in the international policy-study areas, and to apply the approach for analyzing and understanding the dynamics of the contemporary Korean society. The discussion was divided into three topics related to the core concept: theoretical elaboration and implication, application for the field of social policy, and application for the field of international flow of laws and legal knowledge.
