  • 1978-84 student assitant to Prof. Peter Schäfer in his research project on editing Hekhalot-literature (early Jewish mysticism) at the University of Cologne
  • 1984-1989 research assistant on the research project "Translating Hekhalot-literature" at Freie Universität Berlin
  • 1989-1993 (spring) researcher at Freie Universität Berlin
  • 1993-1994 receives research fellowship (Feodor Lynen-Forschungsstipendium) from the Humboldt Foundation for the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
