Vom Umgang mit ägyptischem Kulturgut - Von der Antike bis zur Neuzeit

By reconstructing and researching secure aspects of Egypt's history on the basis of criticallyinterpreted and analyzed traditions from antiquity to modern times, my dissertation aims tocreate a greater awareness of which political, economic and social circumstances haveinfluenced the handling of antiquities from Egypt and still do today. To this end, the history ofthe structurally weak Central Egyptian city of Assiut and the handling of its cultural legaciesare divided into specific periods of time – i.e. periodized – and objectively discussed and intersubjectively examined as examples for Egypt. The main component of this study thus lies in the indexing and interpretation of sources.
