The Department of History and Cultural Studies offers German-language Master's programs as well as numerous programs in English. The International Office provides support for students: please contact Kristina Cassar and Hauke Ziemssen if you have any questions. A lot of information and materials are also available online.
Start of studies
Questions about the start of the semester, courses, related modules, campus management and more? Take advantage of our support services such as video tutorials or the Introduction Guide. Kristina Cassar and Hauke Ziemssen will be happy to help you in the International Office - the office is open daily, just drop by. The student tutor Sena Nur Narin also offers consultation hours for international MA students (every Monday from 10-12 a.m. in the Holzlaube, lounge between Iranian and Islamic Studies, as well as online by appointment).

Offers for Refugees
If you are a qualified student who had to leave your home country as a refugee, Freie Universität Berlin offers you a special welcome program. You will be given the opportunity to attend selected courses and participate in selected additional offerings free of charge and thus prepare yourself for the start of a degree program.
Semester abroad at the FU Berlin
We welcome a large number of international exchange students from various programs each year. Most programs are specific to the individual institutes. However, the application process is up to the university's central administration. So check if your university has an exchange agreement with Freie Universität and visit both the central locations of FU Berlin and our institutes.
