The project's kick-off workshop took place at Freie Universität Berlin from 22 to 24 May. Over two and a half days, the project participants came together to get to know each other and their respective work, to exchange ideas, and to establish principles for working together in the coming years. The process was accompanied and supported by Sorka Tzschabran, integration expert and consultant at the TD-Lab – Laboratory for Transdisciplinary Research at the Berlin University Alliance. The project developed a code of conduct, agreed on ethical principles for research with contemporary witnesses, established a governance structure, and defined general milestones. The next workshop, which will focus on oral history, is planned for November 2025.
