Nourhan Tewfik is a senior officer at the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) and a freelance journalist. She is the coordinator of the CMRS and LSE project “Preventing Statelessness among Migrants and Refugees: Birth Registration and Consular Assistance in Egypt and Morocco - Phase II”. Tewfik received her MA in Arabic Studies with a specialization in Arabic Literature, and BA in Political Science with a double specialization in Middle East Politics and International Relations, from the American University in Cairo (2013, 2019). Between 2011-2018, Tewfik assisted with research at Freie Universität Berlin, the American University in Cairo, the Arab Council for Social Sciences in Beirut and Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Cairo. Tewfik was also visiting teaching fellow at the Cairo Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In her capacity as journalist, Tewfik has worked for Ahram Online, one of Egypt's leading English-language news portals. She is currently freelancing with the Saudi daily Arab News.
