Korean Language Courses at the King Sejong Institute of Freie Universität Berlin
The Korean language courses offered by the Sejong Institute at Freie Universität Berlin are not only for students of Freie Universität Berlin but are open to everyone.
Moreover, Sejong Korean courses are available to anyone free of charge.
With our new language courses, we will do our best to support and further encourage your passion for the Korean language and your interest in Korean culture.
1. Information on Language Courses
KSI Berlin offers two study semesters per year. Students start and complete the Korean course within the respective semester. The 1st semester begins each year in mid-February, and the 2nd semester begins each year in mid-August. KSI Berlin currently only offers offline courses.
Note: Detailed information on registration for the Korean courses will be published on this website (Institute of Korean Studies) about one month before the start of each semester.
2. Course Registration

The above courses are the basic course of Sejong Korean class and the courses in each semester may be reduced/added situationally. KSI Berlin currently offers offline class only.
5. Class Hours
Courses primarily begin in the afternoon. However, due to possible situational changes, please refer to the course registration guide for each semester.
6. Location
The venue is the seminar room at the Institute of Korean Studies, Freie Universität Berlin (Institute’s address: Otto-von-Simson Straße 11, 14195 Berlin). However, there may be some situational changes, so please consult the course guide each semester.
7. Submission of Documents for Course Registration
Applicants for Sejong 1A need only the application form, with no additional documents required.
Applicants for Sejong 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B must submit one of the following documents:
- Copy of Sejong Korean Certificate
- Sejong Institute Placement Test
- TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean)

8. Course Completion Guidelines and Sejong Korean Certificate
- A certificate is issued when the requirements for the final exam and attendance are met.
- The test is conducted in four areas: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
- Requirements: at least 70% attendance, with an average score of at least 60 points.

Reference website: The "Nuri-King Sejong Institute" website provides comprehensive information about the Korean language and culture for learners and teachers. After registration/login, you can access all Sejong textbooks (e-books) and various materials for free.
