Cultural Program

The King Sejong Institute Berlin offers various cultural programs throughout the year to promote a deeper understanding of Korean culture and provide insights into its traditions. Here is an overview of the programs, organized by month:

February
  • Seollal Celebration (Korean Lunar New Year): You can enjoy "Tteokguk" (rice cake soup) and play the traditional Korean board game "Yutnori." The winning team will receive special prizes.
  • Korean Film Festival: At the end of the month, a film festival will take place at Capitol Dahlem cinema, showing three Korean films for free. Following the screenings, there will be an exclusive Q&A session with film directors or producers.
May
  • Korean Cooking Class: Participants have the opportunity to prepare traditional Korean dishes themselves. A survey will decide which dish will be made. Spaces are limited, so please register early.
  • Preliminary Rounds of the Korean Language Competition: The top three participants will win prizes, and the first-place winner qualifies for the national competition in Germany. The national winner will be invited to the global competition in Korea.
September
  • Chuseok Celebration (Korean Thanksgiving): We share "Songpyeon" (traditional rice cakes) and celebrate the holiday with traditional wishes under the full moon.
October
  • Cultural Academy Week: In the session "Understanding Poetry through Songs," participants will explore Korean poems and sing songs inspired by them.
  • Hangeul Day (October 9): A handwriting contest (Baekiljang) will be held, with prizes awarded for the best entries.
November
  • Children's Book Reading Course: This four-week course is part of an intensive Korean language program and concludes with a story narration in front of classmates during the winter semester closing ceremony.
Year-Round
  • Cultural Salon (twice per semester): Special lectures, performances, or exhibitions by guest artists offer insights into Korean art and culture.
  • Semester Closing Ceremony: A festive event with Korean food and drinks to celebrate learning progress.

These events are open to everyone, and we warmly invite you to participate!
