Offener Hörsaal: "Unterseeboote, Flugmaschinen und nackte Philosophen: Das Nachleben Alexanders des Großen zwischen Macht und Märchen"

The presentation by Beatrice Gruendler is part of the lecture series "Offener Hörsaal" about Alexander the Great and the legends inspired by the historical figure. Oscillating in the hybrid space between fact and fiction, folklore and futurism, narratives stretching over more than 2000 years engage in a perpetuously changing socio-cultural discussion of power and empowerment.

The lecture series convened by Prof. Dr. Andrew James Johnston, Prof. Dr. Wolfram Keller and Jan-Peer Hartmann is part of the research project »Imperial Fictions« of the EXC 2020 TemporalCommunities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective« and the Institute of English Studies, Faculty of Philosophy and the Humanities of Freie Universität Berlin.

The presentation is held in German, for lifestream and media archive links see the "Offener Hörsaal" homepage.
