Cornelis van Lit, Universiteit Leiden: “Among Digitized Manuscripts: Philology, Codicology, Paleography in a Digital World.”

Manuscripts have been digitized by the thousands... but, now what? Although many scholars have been making good use of digitized manuscripts for ordinary philological purposes, there is much more that can be done with them.

Cornelis van Lit will highlight some use cases, drawing from his new book Among Digitized Manuscripts. The author also ventures a glimpse towards the future, when we will not even want the digitized manuscript but merely want the data and metadata – what Cornelis van Lit calls a ˈborn-digital manuscriptˈ.
