Global Arabic Literature Cultures (GALC) is a new peer-reviewed, open-access book series with De Gruyter Brill, emerging from the ERC project AnonymClassic and edited by Beatrice Gründler, Elias Muhanna, and Isabel Toral.

 It brings Arabic literature into dialogue with global literary history and questions of translation, circulation, and reception across regions and time. The series focuses on the global dimensions of Arabic literature, tracing how Arabic texts move, are translated, and are adapted across regions and periods. It invites studies on world travel of Arabic works, on Arabic as a cosmopolitan language in Africa and Asia, and on cultural production that has shaped the Arabic language(s) over time.

The series welcomes monographs, thematic edited volumes, conference volumes, text editions and translations ofsignicant primary texts. The series accepts proposals and manuscripts in the default western languages English, French, and German. It will be hybrid to include both open access and non-open access publications.

• Band 1 – Sulaiman Adewale Alagunfon, Text, Contexts and Scholars: The Classical Arabic Maqāma in Yorubaland, Nigeria

• Band 2 – Beatrice Gründler & Isabel Toral (eds.), An Unruly Classic: Kalīla and Dimna and Its Syriac, Arabic, and Early Persian Versions

• Band 3 – Ulrich Marzolph, The Arabic Fable

• Band 4 – Colinda Lindemann, Dictionary as Commentary: Arabic Lexicography in the Post-Formative Period
