The move into the new building was an opportunity for the smaller disciplines to show they are small only by name. These disciplines and institutes have been vitally important for the Freie Universität of Berlin’s work and self-conception; with the new building in the Fabeckstraße these disciplines and institutes have obtained a common place which fosters interdisciplinary work. The move into the new building has added a new chapter to the history of the university. It is, however, important to continue to remember the villa-culture abundant in Dahlem.
