Lukas Muehlethaler studied Jewish Thought (maḥševet israel) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed his graduate studies in Arabic and Islamic Studies at Yale University with a dissertation on the Jewish philosopher Ibn Kammūna. Following his post-doc fellowship in the "Research Unit Intellectual History of the Islamicate World" at the Institut of Islamic Studies of Freie Universität Berlin he served as Juniorprofessor at the Institute for Jewish Studies and in 2019 was appointed Professor for Jewish Philosophy and Aesthetics.
