FSI Jewish Studies

Student Committee (Fachschaftsinitiative or FSI)

Shalom and welcome to the website of the Jewish Studies Student Committee!

The Jewish Studies Student Committee was re-launched in the winter semester 2013/2014 and since then has functioned as a voice and service provider for students, so maybe this includes you?!

We see ourselves as a non-political initiative of students, and we are first and foremost interested in improving communication and sense of community. At the moment we are a handful of idealists. All combinations and forms of Jewish Studies are represented in the committee, so you will always receive an answer to your questions. In order to maintain this diversity within a small field of study, we are always happy about new ideas and for students to join us!

We don’t see ourselves as mediators in conflicts with the department, but rather as the intersection between lecturers and students, and we are always available to give you advice and assistance. Beyond this, we also host and organize diverse projects.

We regularly organize our “FSI Stammtisch,” and we occasionally and happily invite lecturers as “guests of honor” as well. Additionally we host garden parties in the summer and a Chanukah celebration in the winter.

Our long-term project has been to network with other student committees (FSI) from other European universities, which is also why we try to organize excursions and trips. In July 2014, for example, we had an excursion to Cracow.

If you have any questions, you can reach us at fsi.judaistik.fu@gmail.com and on Facebook under Judaistik FU Berlin.

The student committee can be found in the Holzlaube in the Fabeckstraße 23/25, in Room 0.2064.
