Geschichte und Gesellschaft, GG, is a quarterly published journal that aims to encompass all topics concerning the research of Social History. GG reaches those studying, teaching and researching the field of Social History, Political or Cultural studies, and all those interested in the introduction of new questions, new answers, and new discoveries in the realm of historical research.

The main concern of the journal is society and its history, or Social History, understood as the history of the social, political, economic, and cultural phenomena that are anchored in a particular society. GG also concerns itself with the representation and analysis of social change.

Since 1 January 2024, the editorial office of "Geschichte und Gesellschaft" has been located at the Chair of Contemporary History at the University of Konstanz. From now on, please send new enquiries to: gg-redaktion@uni-konstanz.de.

In Geschichte und Gesellschaft, there are articles, discussion pieces, literature reviews, reviews of recent publications, and news about the field itself. The majority of the issues published will have a theme to which all the contents will adhere. Irregularly published special issues cover current topics of research that require a more detailed discussion.
