Diploma in pedagogy, Dr. phil. in japanology, research assistant in the DFG-Research Group “Self-Narratives in Transcultural Perspective” at Berlin Free University since 2004; from 1987 through 1991 lecturer for German language and German cultural studies at the Yamanashi-University in Kôfu, Japan. Since 2001 participation in the project “Großes japanisch-deutsches Wörterbuch”.

Research Areas:

Education and school system in Japan, Japanese culture of writing and writing movements (jibunshi-undô), Japanese memory of war and autobiographical writings; self-narratives in transcultural perspective.
