Yiyi Liang

Yiyi Liang is a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Art History, Freie Universität Berlin, supervised by Prof. Dr. Juliane Noth. She is broadly interested in European - Asian cultural and visual encounters. Her research supported by Humboldt Foundation takes international exhibitions for emerging contemporary Chinese art in the 1990s as clues to understand the globalization of this body of art. Her recent publications include a forthcoming article in the Museo Nacional del Prado catalogue for the exhibition “The Future of the Past: Fernando Zóbel and the History of Art,” titled Zóbel and East Asian Art (English and Spanish, Nov 2022), and an article in the “Journal of Asian Arts and Aesthetics” (vol 8, Asian Women Artists, Dec 2022), titled The Reconstruction of a Female Subject: The Installation Art of Three Chinese Women Artists in the Diaspora.

Yiyi got her B.A. in architecture at the Tongji University and M.A. in Design Studies at the Harvard University. She is co-organizing a workshop, titled “Contemporary Art and Architecture on Display” with Professor Noth.
