DESCRIPTION: In 2015 a farmer in Eastern Kazakhstan found a large stone bea
ring the image of a cross and Syriac script. This discovery and subsequent
excavations uncovered the lost Silk Road Ilibalik\, which the chronicler of
Hethum I\, King of Armenia\, described as a city of Christians. Subsequent
excavations have yielded over one hundred graves and counting along with e
vidences of a developed city. Estimated to be larger than Medieval Jerusale
m\, Ilibalik is still less than 1% excavated. We'll have a look at the extr
aordinary developments and finds discovered in Kazakhstan and their implica
tions.
