Semitic Studies focus on research of Semitic languages, history and cultures of the Middle East. With a focus on linguistics, Semitic Studies examine the full spectrum of Semitic languages from first records to modern dialects.

Among the subjects of teaching and research are writings of the Abrahamic religions and other religious groups like the Mandeans as well as recent political developments in the Middle East.
