Our research projects PalREAD and AnonymClassic give insights into their work during the Long Night of Sciences

News from May 10, 2019

This year, the Arabic Studies department will present its two projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC)—"Country of Words: Reading and Reception of Palestinian Literature from 1948 to the Present" (Dr. Refqa Abu-Remaileh) and "The Arabic Anonymous in a World Classic "(Prof. Dr. Beatrice Gründler, awarded with the Leibniz Prize of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft 2017)—to the interested public.

PalREAD aims to tell the story of Palestinian literature by tracing and mapping literary sources across the Arab world, Europe and North & South America. We will explain how its innovative research methodologies seek, through the case of Palestinian literature, to contribute to an understanding of diasporic, exilic and refugee literatures. (R. Abou Rached, M. Gaida, der Vortrag ist in Englisch.)

The project AnonymClassic presents its work on the mirror of princes in the form of fables, Kalīla and Dimna—a pre-modern work of world literature translated into over forty languages and read, copied, adapted and rewritten from Spain to Malaysia. (B. Gründler, R. Redwan)
