John Horne is a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin where he is Professor of Modern European History and Director of the Centre for War Studies, which he founded in 2007. He is also a Member of the Royal Irish Academy. He specializes in twentieth century French and European history and has published a number of books and some 90 articles and book chapters on the history of the labour movement, social history and the comparative and transnational history of the Great War. He is a member of the Board of the International Research Centre of the Historial de la Grande Guerre, the international museum of the Great War at Péronne, France. He is also a member of EURHISTXX, a consortium of history departments and research centres across Europe specializing in writing the contemporary history of Europe at a continental level.
