Cultural history of the Turkic steppe peoples, especially the Crimean

Tatars, and of the Ottoman Empire; history of the Türkmens; Turkic

biographical and autobiographical works as sources of cultural history

(Ottoman empire, Central Asia); language policy in the post-Soviet

Central Asian republics.
