This presentation introduces the use of stylometric approaches to study linguistic variation, scribal traditions, and ideological framing in cuneiform texts. The focus lies on how quantitative analysis of lexical, grammatical, and semantic patterns can shed light on genre conventions, registers of communication, and the practices of ancient scribal communities. Key questions concern the detection of stylistic tendencies across genres and periods, the identification of recurring scribal habits, and the extent to which language use reflects broader cultural or ideological priorities. Attention is also given to the methodological challenges of applying stylometry to ancient corpora, including issues of annotation, corpus size, and the nature of Akkadian and Sumerian writing.
