News from Mar 09, 2020
The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020 has the archaeological and historical disciplines of our department on top positions again – both in Germany and worldwide. In the subject of archaeology, Freie Universität Berlin ranks 21 worldwide and 2 in Germany (after Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen); in the subject of history, it ranks 32 worldwide and (after Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) 2 in Germany. These results contributed considerably to Freie Universität Berlin’s excellent overall position in the Arts and Humanities group of subjects (23 worldwide, 2 in Germany, after Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin).
The QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings by Subject covers 48 subjects. According to QS, each of the subject rankings is compiled using four sources. The first two of these are QS’s global surveys of academics and employers, which are used to assess institutions’ international reputation in each subject. The second two indicators assess research impact, based on research citations per paper and h-index in the relevant subject.
