Syriac hagiography attributes arguably the biggest relic translation to a little-known saint. Aḥo the Stranger brought a piece of the True Cross from Constantinople to Ṭur ʿAbdin. The Life is anonymous, but the relic is remembered, for there are two monasteries consecrated in the name of the Cross in the region. In addition to this unprecedented translation story, the Life provides invaluable insight into a medieval Syriac hagiographer's understanding of the Roman Empire and of the neighboring Armenian communities.
