Dr. Assaf Bar-Moshe promovierte am Fachbereich für Linguistik und am Fachebereich für arabische Sprache und Literatur der Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Sein primäres Interessensgebiet sind die jüdischen Dialekte Mesopotamiens. Nachdem er seine Monographie zur Phonologie und Morphologie des jüdischen Dialekts ovn Bagdad veröffentlicht hat, befasst sich Bar-Moshe momentan mit der Beschreibung von syntaktischen Phänomenen in diesem Dialekt. Des Weiteren ist er in einem Forschungsprojekt zum jüdischen Dialekt von ˁĀna beschäftigt, das von der Fritz Thyssen Stiftung gefördert an der Freien Universität Berlin durchgeführt wird.
