A conversation within the framework of Kilmé talks
Kilmé is a monthly talk series dedicated to Palestinian artists, intellectuals, and academics; a platform to present their work and speak about subjects that are important to them.
On the 18th of February Loaay Wattad is the guest of Kilmé talks.
Loaay Wattad is a scholar, writer, and translator specialising in Palestinian and Israeli children’s literature. He is a Minerva Postdoctoral Fellow at Freie Universität Berlin and an EUME fellow at the Forum Transregionale Studien. His research focuses on political imagination, fantasy and war in children’s literature.
In this conversation, moderated by Tyme Khleifi and Michael Barenboim, they discuss a wide range of topics in Palestinian children’s literature — from the fragmentation of the literary field to writing for children in Gaza to Palestinian adaptations of folkloric tales such as Little Red Riding Hood.
